Project Prom committee prepares for event
The Project Prom committee’s mission is to provide a safe, alcohol and drug free event to follow up the BGHS prom.
Students will be bused to the St. Peter’s Rec-Plex after the prom dance April 27. There, they will be provided with food and have the option to play a variety of games where they can earn money. Participating students will also have access to the swimming pool, basketball courts, and ice rink. There will be games in each of these areas, as well.
The evening’s festivities will draw to a close with a performance from a hypnotist. Prizes will be drawn before returning to BGHS. Hundreds of dollars will be spent on prizes for both games and drawing. Each junior and senior in attendance will receive a cash prize whether or not they win any provided games.
Committee members contact local businesses, parents, and colleges for donations to help sponsor the event. The entire evening will cost nearly $13,000. Already the committee has presented fundraisers provided through Kripsy Kreme, Hardee’s, and Pizza Hut. The committee also gathered money with the 50/50 drawing during halftime of the Bowling Green Invitational championship games.
A fundraiser at the Bowling Green McDonald’s in scheduled for March 5. The Project Prom committee is also planning to organize a Bowling Green High School Alumni Basketball Tournament for March 23, as well as an April 5 trivia night.
Donations and other assistance is welcome and would be greatly appreciated.
