Last week we provided an article for our Y 21st CCLC in The Louisiana Press Journal, advertising our parent/adult education series of classes to be offered on the evenings of March 5th, March 12th, and March 19th (all Tuesday evenings- 6-7:45 p.m.)
The classes will be offered at Bowling Green, Clopton, and Louisiana on a two program per night rotation for the three weeks. Each site will offer all six classes over the three Tuesday nights.
The schedule was in last week’s paper. In addition to that all K-6 children in Pike County took home a flier providing all the information.
We feel the classes being presented by people in the community with expertise on the topics represent a wide range of topics with information that should prove to be valuable and useful.
The topics cover money management, parenting, teenage at-risk factors, school counseling, college planning and school meal programs.
For example, many parents are asking questions about the types of food in our school lunch programs that are being served and the portions provided. The school food service directors in each district will be available to answer those questions.
The Twin Pike Y 21st CCLC programs at all of the elementary schools in our county would like to appeal to all of our parents to take a look at the programs and go to one or more of the sites March 5th, 12th, or 19th and take part in the classes. The times, once again, are 6 to 7:45 p.m. each night.
Any parent in any of the districts is more than welcome to attend any night at whichever school site they desire. We appreciate RSVP’s but simply showing up is acceptable. All sites plan to serve snacks between programs (6:45-7:00pm) and attendance prizes, including $25 gas cards will be drawn for.

We do want to remind parents at Frankford and BONCL that 21st CCLC staff members from their schools will also be participating and they are all invited to attend any of the sites.
