The Ecumenical Women’s Breakfast group will meet at Centenary United Methodist Church, 7th & South Carolina St. in Louisiana, on Monday, March 11, at 8:30 a.m.
The program will be presented by Centenary’s handbell choir, which is directed by Joanna Brock. The group, which was formed about 15 years ago, normally has a range of three octaves.
Since some of the members will not be able to play for the gathering, two octaves will be represented. Each bell player is assigned to 2 to 4 bells all the time though sometimes they are required to change over when a player is missing.
The ringers perform in the Colorfest parade, at area ecumenical events, at their own church during worship and for other special events. In order to stay current with music trends, some of the members travel to Belleville, Illinois each September for the reading of new music with a professional director.
The ladies of Calumet Presbyterian Church will serve as co-hostesses for the breakfast. A $5 donation will be used by the group for local charities or projects.
All women of the area are invited to come spend an enjoyable morning of fellowship, good food, and a wonderful musical program.
There are no dues or commitments for being in the group and it offers a chance for women of faith to gather informally every few months.
