Weather permitting, Monday, March 25, MoDOT and its contractor, planned to begin repairing and resurfacing almost 12 miles of the north and southbound lanes and shoulders of US 61 from just south of MO 19 at New London to just south of Route UU near Bowling Green.
On Monday, crews planned to begin pavement repairs in the northbound lanes from Frankford to New London and southbound from just north of Route RA to just north of Route U north of Bowling Green; repairs should take approximately one week to complete. When repairs are completed, resurfacing work will begin in the southbound lanes near Bowling Green. Repairs and resurfacing work should take a little over two months to complete, however this work is weather dependent and can be delayed.
Crews will be working Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Traffic will be reduced to one lane with a 55 mph speed limit through the work zone. Motorists may encounter rough and uneven pavement with construction equipment frequently entering and exiting the work zone. Please use extra caution while traveling through the work zone area.
The Missouri Department of Transportation’s contractor for the project is Chester Bross Construction Company of Hannibal for $1,465,062.94.
