Republican club news – Plan for upcoming Lincoln day, April 19
Republicans of Pike County met April 4 at the Faith Baptist Church in Louisiana. Club members enjoyed a spaghetti carry-in supper. Business meeting was called to order by club president, John Baker.
Club members are planning a Lincoln Day Celebration on April 19 at the American Legion Hall in Clarksville.
A dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The program will be presented by state representatives Jim Hansen and Jay Houghton, and by state senator Brian Munzlinger. A silent auction will also be held. Workers are needed to help decorate, prepare for the dinner, and help set up the silent auction. The American Legion will be open after 2 p.m. Anyone who is willing to help should come to the hall. We also need desserts donated.
Lori Helkey was recognized and congratulated on her election to the Louisiana School Board.

Baker announced that progress is being made toward having our own Pike County website. We have a registered domain.
Dorothy Sisson gave an update on plans to create a scholarship for a high school senior. She will be contacting local school officials. The scholarship will be available to a senior entering college in the fall of 2014. The proposed amount of the scholarship will be $500 and can be used at any institution of higher learning.
