Ronald Radford

Ronald “Ronnie” Lee Radford, of Louisiana, died Saturday, April 13, 2013 at his home with his son Thad by his side.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 19 at 11 a.m. at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 18 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery near Louisiana.

Ronnie was born Oct. 1, 1939 in Hannibal, the son of Arley and Eileen Dixon Radford. On Sept. 12, 1959 he married Shelia Faye Anderson and she survives.

Also surviving are his children, Danny Radford and wife Rebecca of Aubrey, Texas, Thad Radford, of the home, and Chad Radford and wife Colleen of Marana, Ariz; grandchildren include Daniel Lee and Charles David Radford, of Aubrey, Texas and Christiane Maureen Radford, of Marana, Ariz.

Also surviving, his twin brother, Donald Radford and wife Pat; three sisters, Donna Elder McDowell of Curryville, Cindy Lykins of Glendale, Ariz., and Arleen Maple and husband Gene of Hannibal; mother-in-law, Barbara Anderson, of Louisiana; sister-in-law, Lori Brown and husband Ted, of Louisiana; and Jeanne Jolley, of Laddonia; brothers-in-law, Warren Anderson and wife Linda, of Phoenix, Ariz., Neil Anderson and wife Lynda, of Ashburn, Les Anderson, Vance Anderson and Raymond Lambert, of Louisiana; and numerous nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his son, Ronald Charles Radford; parents, Arley and Eileen Radford; father-in-law, Charles W. Anderson; and sister-in-law, Lynda Lambert.

He grew up in Hannibal and graduated from Hannibal High School in 1958. He was employed by Southwestern Bell for 42 years.

He worked many weekends and nights driving for the Uregas Company, Rogers Carthage, and Herman Brothers, as well as the Imperial Service Station.

He was well known all around Pike and Marion counties as “the telephone man.” He also went by the nickname of “Slim” and “Tall.”

He had a zest for life and enjoyed the riverfront and Cardinal baseball. He was a Khoury League baseball manager for 13 years and loved the children.

His pride and joy besides Shelia and his sons was his precious grandchildren. He was a marvel to his family and all who knew and loved him.

Active pallbearers are Danny Radford, Thad Radford, Chad Radford, Daniel Radford, Charlie Radford, Patrick Radford, Cory Radford and Gene Zbleski

Honorary pallbearers are Raymond Lambert, Gary Jolley, Chris Peterman, Chris Misner, Loran Sebacher, Jim Render and Warren Anderson.
