A Mass of the Christian Burial for Catherine Ann Ambra, 51, of Bowling Green was held on April 15 at the St. Clement Catholic Church in St. Clement. Father Bill Peckman officiated.
Catherine passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Ruth Jensen Village in Bowling Green.
She was born on Nov. 7, 1961 in Fairview Park, Ohio the daughter of Stephen Peter Ambra Sr. and Joan Carter Golembe.
She was cared for by her parents until placement at Emmaus Home in Marthasville. In 1991 she came to live at Ruth Jensen Village to be closer to her parents who then lived in Pike County.
She is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Ward Hanneman, of Blue Springs; a brother, Stephen Ambra Jr., of Concord, N.H.; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Joan Carter Golembe, who passed away Dec. 16, 1997; her father, Stephen Ambra, Sr. on Nov. 15, 2010; and a brother, Thomas James Ambra, who passed away June 21, 2007.
Cathy enjoyed music, ice cream, and teasing others. When her health was better, she attended the Pike County Agency for Developmental Disabilities day program.
She could be described as “strong willed” but was loved by those who knew and cared for her. She will be greatly missed by her housemates and friends.
Pallbearers were Nickie Seal, Yolanda Smith, Vernon Wallsmith, Alan Cantley, Mark Morton and Andrew Salmons.
The family would like to say “thank you” to the staff of Ruth Jensen Village for the wonderful care given to Cathy.
