Bowling Green Chapter DAR meeting minutes

The Bowling Green Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met at the Methodist Church on Saturday, April 20. Regent Jane Quade called the meeting to order at 10 a.m. Chaplain Elaine Niemeyer gave a devotion entitled “Gardening Fever.”

Joyce Lewis led the group in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Charlene McCune lead the group in singing the Star Spangled Anthem. Diane Fuerst led the group in reciting the Preamble to the Constitution. Pam Williams lead the group in reciting the American’s Creed while Margie Jamieson lead in the Pledge of Allegiance to the State of Missouri. Judy Black led the recitation of the Daughter’s Pledge.

Williams discussed the Chapter Revitalization status with two members being approved on April 13. The new, approved members are Joyce Lovelace and Sherry Moss Clawson. One prospective member’s application has been in for review and approval. The prospective member is Robin Daugherty.

Christy Wendel presented an article from the Missouri Conservationist entitled “Be A Turkey Counter.” The Missouri Department of Conservation is asking for volunteers to help with the annual wild turkey brood survey. See page 6 of the April 2013 Missouri Conservationist for additional information.

Lovelace gave a healthy receipe for the Women’s Issue. Debby Ingram gave the constitutional highlight.

Joyce Edwards gave the program on how Indian youth are learning their traditional heritage. A DVD “Telling Stories and Planting Seeds” was watched by all members which was very informative.

Two new members were sworn into membership by Regent Quade. Williams presented each new member with a Welcome Bag. A cup was passed for change for the Veterans Project Patriot.

Delegates to the MSSDAR Convention in Columbia on May 3-5 are: Quade, Wendel, Fuerst, and Niemeyer.

Hostesses for the meeting were: Fuerst, Lewis, and Quade.

The next meeting will be held Thursday, May 23 at 11:30 a.m. and will be a catered meal. Please contact Charlene McCune if you plan to attend by May 19 so a head count can be given the caterer. The price of the meal will be approximately $10.

All members should bring a baby picture and another picture of your choice for a show and tell at the May meeting.

Being no further business the meeting adjourned at 11:15 a.m.
