Glenn Alan Bailey to speak at BGHS Alumni Banquet – Deters, Niemeyer to be honored
Plans are underway for the 29th annual Bowling Green High School Alumni Association Banquet which will be held Saturday, Oct. 12.
The speaker at this year’s banquet will be Glenn Alan Bailey, a member of the class of 1963. After graduating from the University of Missouri in 1967, Bailey served his country in Vietnam and married his wife Carolyn. He then returned to his roots in Pike County to raise his family and farm. Bailey became a prominent area banker with Perry State Bank, now Hannibal National Bank.
The theme of the banquet this year will be to honor all veterans who graduated from BGHS. Also being honored will be the late Second Lt. David S. Deters and the late Sgt. Louis Andrew Niemeyer, Jr. Both men were killed in action during Vietnam War. Deters was a member of the class of 1963 and Niemeyer was a member of the class of 1965. This would have been Deter’s 50th class reunion.
