Vacation Bible School
Second Baptist Church will hold their Vacation Bible School, “Colossal Coastal World” from Monday, July 15 through Friday, July 19 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. There will be a Celebration Sunday on July 21 at 10:45 a.m. with a lunch following. Please be sure to save those dates to send your children up through fifth grade and join the fun. Contact the church office or Wendy Summers for more information.
2BC Youth News
Youth from Second Baptist Church will be attending the “X-FUGE Summer Camp from July 8 through 13 in Nashville, Tenn. Please contact the church office or Martin Hanley at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Ladies Summer Book Club
The ladies at Second Baptist Church are making plans to spend some time reading in the coming hot summer days. They have three books they are reading and then meeting for the Summer Book Club 2013 on June 20, July 18 and Aug. 15 to discuss. The first book “And the Shofar Blew” by Francine Rivers will be the first book that will be discussed on June 20. Second Baptist Women’s ministry has committed to helping Avenues, the Women’s Crisis Center in Hannibal. It is a safe haven for women and children suffering with domestic abuse. There is a box in the educational building foyer at Second Baptist Church where you may donate any kind of personal items for the women & children. Many times they have been torn apart by domestic abuse and come to Avenues without even basic necessities. The center is nearly always full to maximum. Children’s Choir Mission Trip
The Second Baptist Children’ Choir will be taking the puppets and heading to the Lake of the Ozarks from July 11 through 14. They will be singing for many different groups including camp grounds where visitors are congregated.
Youth continue to meet at 6 p.m. each Wednesday night with Martin Hanley, youth leader and others to study God’s word. Any youth grade sixth through twelfth are welcome and encouraged to come be a part of this study and the 2BC Youth group.
Bro. Don Amelung continues to lead a year round Bible study each Wednesday at 6 p.m. for adults of all ages in the church sanctuary. This is followed by choir practice at 7 p.m. led by Joyce Burris, Music Ministry.
In the basement of the church, the “Soup & Study” ladies continue with their Bible study beginning from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. each Wednesday night. There’s a light supper and the Bible study begins about 6 p.m. There’s no book necessary except the Bible. Please get in touch with Ann Hiles, Joyce Long, Brenda Colbert or Diane Shannon for a list of Bible passages we will be studying this summer. All ladies are invited to come eat or just come for Bible study as we sit around the table and consider what we find in the Bible and learn to apply it to our lives.
Second Baptist Church continues their bus route each Sunday morning for Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. and late worship at 10:45 a.m. and then returning riders home after that. Please call the church office at 573-324-3113 if you need a ride to church.
