Gaby Farabee recently attended the Missouri Leadership, Inc., held June 7 through 9 at the University of Central Missouri. Farabee joined more than 170 young leaders representing as many high schools from throughout Missouri.
Selected to represent Bowling Green High School, she is the daughter of Bruce and Carmen Farabee. The Heir Study Club was her local sponsor.
The mission of the Missouri Leadership Seminar is to identify and actively engage young potential leaders, help them understand their own strengths and abilities, and teach them how to use their gifts to positively influence others to serve their communities and nation.
The Missouri Leadership Seminar, Inc. is the gateway program that introduces these future leaders to the values of leadership, citizenship, and community service.
Attending students learn while interacting with other potential high school sophomore leaders (from both public and private schools) from every background and community throughout the state.
Service projects are utilized both during the seminar and afterwards as a way to introduce young leaders to the personal and social values of service, as well as volunteering.
“MLS really opened my eyes,” said Farabee. “I learned to be ale to think, laugh, and cry. I definitely feel that it was one of the best experiences of my life. I met a lot of new people and learned the whole time I was there. I want to return next year as a Junior Facilitator and help the 2014 ambassadors have as good of a time as I did.”
