Community Care hosts “Back 2 School Fair”

The Pike Community Care Partnership is coming together once again to host its annual “Back 2 School Fair” this weekend. Pike County students are invited to the event for free gifts and necessary information before the start of the school year.

This year’s back to school fair will be held at the Pike County Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. 12 p.m. Sat., Aug. 10.

2013 marks the fifth year of the annual event that Pike County has hosted.

Last year, an estimated 1000 people attended the fair hosted by the Pike County Care Partnership.  607 children from 10 Pike County schools registered at the event.

Besides receiving backpacks filled with age-appropriate school supplies, there will also be 22 booths with resource information on hand for the participants to visit.  Each of these booths will also be handing out additional school supplies.

Once again, event sponsors will have stylists on-site to give free, professional haircuts. Approximately 200 haircuts are given each year.

Inside with the booths there will be nail painting, face painting, and even clowns.

Every person attending can enjoy a hotdog, chips, and bottled water served by the Pike County Retired Teachers Association.

Outside activities include the Bowling Green Fire department, Pike County ambulance, and Air Evac.

The fair is open to all Pike County students and is not income-based.
