The Bowling Green Police Department Chief, Don Wickenhauser, recently announced his resignation from the esteemed position.
Wickenhauser has served BGPD and the city for four years. It was noted he is leaving the position to take on a new role in the greater St. Louis area.
The following is a letter received from the Chief of Police regarding his stepping down:
“I will be leaving Bowling Green to take another position in the St. Louis area and have tendered my notice to the city effective July 31, 2013.
I wish express my appreciation for the privilege of serving the citizens and businesses within the City of Bowling Green for the past four years as the Police Chief. It was a pleasure working with the many professionals, elected officials, and appointed officials in Bowling Green.
I believe our department has delivered a high level of police services to the community during the last four years and that the only way this can occur is through the support of the community as a whole. Thank you for that support and please continue to provide that support for the police department as it continues to serve.
The selection of the new police chief is a very important task for the City and I have every confidence that the City will find the right person to do the job.
I wish all the very best.
Chief of Police”
The job is a Board of Aldermen-approved position. According to city officials, the board will discuss their plans to find a replacement at Monday’s regular meeting.
