Haw Creek hosts white elephant sale, dinner
Haw Creck Friendly Neighbors Club met at the Frankford Presbyterian Church for their annual picnic dinner, fellowship, and White Elephant Auction. The hostesses were Pauline Gibbs and Lola Jennings.
Danny Epperson gave the blessing for the 5:30 p.m. dinner. Fifteen members and 11 guests enjoyed the fried chicken and variety of vegetables, salads, and desserts set before them.
President Brenda Cook thanked everyone for coming and the delicious food brought, and announced Pam Hendrell was the birthday lady for the month. Epperson was the fast paced, comical auctioneer with helper Ceaia Flowers, who kept the audience laughing, and bidding against each other. Everything imaginable was sold, ending with left over chicken.
Others attending were: Dorothy Adams, Nannie Elder, Harold and Mary Elder, Leah Epperson, Frankie Epperson, Jan and James Epperson, Dorothy, Hermie, Jeff, and Alicia Flowers, Maxine Macaulay, Dorothy McCarthy, Roxie McMillen, Diane Miller, Louise Miller, and Myrna and Jim Schuette.
The next meeting will be on Sept. 4, at the Presbyterian Church hosted by Dorothy McCarthy.
