Rural accident injures Middletown boy

A Wendesday morning accident sent a Middletown 16-year-old to the hospital last week.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to an accident the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 7:10 a.m. at the junction of Pike County roads 441 and 439.

According to the MSHP’s report, a 2002 Chevrolet Impala, driven by 16-year-old Trana Hagen of Middletown, was travelling southbound on PCR 439. A second vehicle, driven by Dale Hopke, 54, of Vandalia, was eastbound on PCR 441. The two collided as they both travelled into the intersection. The front of Hopke’s 2006 Ford F350 struck the right rear of Hagen’s Impala.

A passenger of the Impala, Joseph Hagen, was transported to Pike County Memorial Hospital by Pike County EMS for treatment of minor injuries.

The drivers of both vehicles were wearing safety devices at the time of the accident. The Hagens’ vehicle sustained moderate damage while the F350 was reported as having minor damage.
