The Champ Clark Heritage Festival Car and Truck Show will be held at the Bowling Green courthouse square Saturday, Sept. 14, rain or shine.
Registration will be from 9 a.m. 1 p.m. Anyone wishing to drive their vehicle in the parade will need to be at the Bowling Green High School by 9:30.
The car and truck show will have 24 different classes with multiple awards in each class. Special awards will be presented to the Best Ford, Best GM, Best Mopar and Best of Show. Judging will be provided and awards presented at 4 p.m.
Everyone entering the show will receive a dash plaque featuring Art Flynn’s 1968 Ford Torino GT. The car is red with black interior and powered by the 335 H.P. 390 C.I. engine with a 4 barrel carburetor. It has a Hurst 4 speed transmission. The car is similar to a 1969 Torino that Art owned when he was in college.
The Bowling Green Lions Club is sponsoring the show with donations from many area businesses and individuals. The entry fees collected from the car show participants are used for Lion’s Club projects in the community. Lion members Rich Wilkinson and Mel Motley are co-chairmen of the event.
The most convenient way to access the show will be to take business highway 61 through Bowling Green and turn onto Church street (turn between Ol’ Tops Pawn Shop and Farm Bureau) and follow it to the square. Watch for car show signs posted along the way.
Car and truck owners are encouraged to bring the entire family as there will be a baby show, food court, crafts, parade, antiques, quilt show, kid’s games, vintage tractors, stationary motors, and music entertainment throughout the day.
