4-H competes in shooting invitational
Pike County 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational was held on June 30 at Ka-Tonka near New London. Events were: Shotgun, Archery, 22 Small Bore, Air Rifle BB and Muzzle Loading. Muzzle Loading and Air Rifle BB which where new events this year.
Eleven area 4-H Counties that participated were: Pike, Maries, Audrain, Scotland, Lewis, Ralls, Monroe, Phelps, Marion, Randolph and Lincoln.
The event had three teams place first at the invitational in 22 Small Bore Junior division and Shotgun Single Trap, both Intermediate and Senior division.
The 22 Small Bore Junior Pike team consisted of Haydon Kent, Landon Kent, Raymond Bird, Shay Butler, and Jeffery Lovell Jr., with each member receiving a medal.
The Shotgun Single Trap Senior Pike team consisted of Justin Sambo, Thomas Niemeyer, Michael Fidler, Garrett Swarnes, and Jordan Shaw, with each member receiving a medal.
The Shotgun Intermediate Single Trap team was a team from Audrain County with each member receiving a medal.
Results from the invitational are as follows:
Single Trap –Pike Intermediate members: Cole Kleindienst- third place and Chase Miller.
Single Trap – Pike Senior members: Justin Sambo- first place, Thomas Niemeyer- third place, Michael Fidler, Garrett Swarnes, and Jordan Shaw.
Double Trap –Pike Senior members: Justin Sambo- first place, Garrett Swarnes- second place, Thomas Niemeyer- fourth place, and Jordan Shaw.
Archery – Compound Release
Junior Pike members: Caleigh Grote- third place and Enoch Brown.
Intermediate Pike members: Andrew Biggs- fifth place and Arika Thorpe.
Air Rifle BB
Junior Pike member: Katelyn Lee- first place. She was the only participant.
Senior member: Adam Sprock Monroe County- first place. He was the only participant.
22 Small Bore
Junior Pike members: Haydon Kent- third place, Landon Kent- fourth place, Raymond Bird- fifth place, Shay Butler, and Jeffery Lovell Jr.
Intermediate Pike members: Chase Miller- second place, and Sidney Thomas.
