Birth Announcement

Proud parents Jared and Neha Grote are overjoyed to announce the birth of their son, Logan James Grote. Their sweet little man joined the family on Feb. 10 at 9:42 a.m., weighing 7 pounds 11 ounces and 20 inches long. Logan joins big sister Annabelle Claire. He is the grandson to Vinod and Madhu Jardosh of High Ridge and Erv and Judy Grote of Bowling Green.

  • Post 370 to host Memorial Day Services

    The American Legion Post 370 Annual Memorial Day services will be held on Monday, May 25 at the Post Home at 420 Kelly Lane Louisiana. The services will be held inside and begin at 10 a.m. This year’s guest speaker will be Brice J. Chandler. Entertainment this year will be Robert Martin. All veterans and their families should plan to attend, as all veterans will be recognized during the program.

  • Genealogical Society to hold beginner’s class

    Pike County Genealogical Society and Museum held their  meeting, on Tuesday, May 5. President Audrey Jones opened the meeting with the pledge of allegiance. The secretary minutes were read by  Valerie Kottwitz. She read the treasurer’s report in the absence of treasurer Linda Jo Harmon. Both were accepted as read. On May 28, there will be a beginner’s class at 6:30 p.m. in the Bowling Green Library at 5 East

  • BG Rotary to host Lakefest

    The Bowling Green Rotary Club will be hosting its third annual Lakefest at the Bowling Green Reservoir (Jack Floyd Memorial Lake) east of Bowling Green, on Friday, June 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. Lakefest includes a BBQ, 5K run/walk, hayrides, bonfire, and other family activities.     The Bowling Green Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met at the Methodist Church on Thursday, April 30. Regent Diane Fuerst called the meeting to order at 2 p.m. Joyce Edwards led the group in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Christy Atkinson led the group in singing the Star Spangled Banner.   • Poppy Days Proclamation

    Last Wednesday, Bowling Green Mayor Don Hunter signed a proclamation, and made a donation, in honor of the annual Poppy Day on May 8. Members of the VFW Post 5553 and Ladies Auxiliary will be distributing the Buddy Poppies and accepting donations throughout town this Friday for the yearly event. Hunter is pictured above with Auxiliary Americanism Chairman Doris Lindsay and VFW Commander Tom Smith.

  • Fishing Derby winners

    Twenty-five anglers and their families enjoyed a day of fishing at the Bowling Green Convention and Visitor’s Bureau fishing derby on May 3.  Reese Turner, age 7, won the prizes for the most fish caught with 19 and the littlest fish caught at three and one-half inches. Oliver Niemeyer, age 7, caught a 13 inch bass, the biggest fish.
