  • VFW, Auxiliary to host POW/MIA ceremony

    The Bowling Green VFW Post #5553 and Ladies Auxiliary will be hosting a POW/MIA and flag retirement ceremony at the post home, 505 VFW Road, in honor POW/MIA Recognition Day. The event will be held this Friday, Sept. 19 at 5:30 p.m. The public is cordially invited to attend the cremony in honor of America’s POW/MIAs abnd the retiring of flags no longer suitable for display. Refreshments will be served.

  • DAR members attend meeting

    Members of the Bowling Green Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution traveled to Hannibal to participate in the district meeting on Sept. 12. DAR members from Kirksville, Hannibal, Macon, Moberly, Paris, Louisiana, Vandalia, Lancaster, Kahoka, and Memphis also attended. This annual meeting allows members to meet with local and state leaders to share ideas and learn about new projects in Missouri. Each year, Missouri DAR sponsors several scholarships

  • Fish Fry, Homecoming to be held Sept. 21

    The annual homecoming and fish fry will be held at the New Harmony Christian Church on Sunday, Sept. 21.   • National Honors Society improves memorial

    Members of the Bowling Green High School National Honor Society recently helped to repaint the War Memorial on the Pike County Courthouse lawn earlier this month. The names on the memorial had become nearly illegible due to wear and exposure to the elements over the years, inspiring Josh Kempke, a BGHS senior, to improve the memorial’s appearance for his NHS project and Eagle Scout project.
