PCADD promotes Disability Employment Awareness Month

Pike County Agency for Developmental Disabilities Community Employment Services Program would like to announce its participation in National Disability Employment Awareness Month, an annual awareness campaign that takes place each October.     Jerri Harrelson, President of the Pike County Democratic Club, welcomed Terry and Lisa Burris to the meeting held on Sept. 18.  Burris is running for Presiding Commissioner and he discussed his qualifications and campaign strategies.  A big “thank you” was extended to club members that helped with the Democratic float in the Heritage Day parade.  Members were asked to volunteer to help with the Applefest and Colorfest parades.

  • Colbert named MU Homecoming candidate

    Congratulations to Frankford’s own Ethan Colbert, who was recently named a candidate for the MU Homecoming King title. Colbert, a Mizzou senior, made it to the top-10 list of candidates this week and is representing his fraternity, Delta Chi. The King and Queen will be announced at the MU Homecoming game, which will take place Saturday, Oct. 25. Ethan is the son of Roger and Julie Colbert.

  • Relay raises nearly $40k

    Braxton Pitzer and Kaylee Long, with a little help from mom Sheila, cut the ribbon to kick off Saturday’s Relay for Life event.

    Saturday’s Relay for Life event, held at the Pike County fairgrounds, raised a total of $38,868.61, much to the delight of event chairpersons and participants. “It was an awesome night,” said chairman Ethel Drew.
