Athletic banquet honors athletes, accomplishments

Bowling Green High School honored its fall sport athletes last week during the annual Fall Athletic Banquet and awards ceremony. Athletic Director and head cross country coach Matt Chance welcomed those in attendance as the event began at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18.   • BGMS to host third annual swap shop

    Becky Turner   Two years ago the Bowling Green Middle School took on a new challenge. Students donated clean, gently used clothing that they no longer needed or wanted.   A “shop” was then set up in the high school auditorium and students were able to come and choose items they would like for themselves.  Everything was free and all students who wanted to were allowed to shop.   • Bowling Green DAR presents citizenship awards

    The Bowling Green Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) presented two prestigious awards to deserving middle school students during their regular monthly meeting last Thursday.  The DAR Youth Citizenship award was presented to a sixth and seventh grader, selected by their teachers, who most represent the qualities of honor, service, courage, patriotism, and leadership.

  • Bowling Green school district considers food service contractor – Cost savings, efficiency motivate change

    The Bowling Green R-I School District is seeking bids for a contractor to take over the district’s food service capabilities.   • TLC honors military personnel

    The infants and toddlers at The Learning Center in Bowling Green made cards to send to military personnel.  They used they handprints to make trees and their footprints to make reindeer.  The Learning Center staff added a note thanking the military personnel for their service.  The children pictured making the cards are Jaelyn Huber, Lyla Robinson, Ragan Stewart, Mallory Matlock, and Brynlee Schumacher.

  • R-1 School Board to seek food service bids – At-risk student policies discussed

    At-risk students, district food services, and the recent HVAC project were all topics discussed during Monday’s school board meeting. Board president Scott Smith called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m. All members were present. After amending the agenda to push an issue back until next month’s meeting, it was approved unanimously.
