The first Brenda Eskew Memorial Scholarship was awarded this spring to Maryland Smith. The alternate was Megan Hakenwerth. Both young women are members of the Bowling Green High School class of 2013. Mrs. Brenda Eskew, who lost her courageous fight with cancer in September of 2012, was a counselor at BGHS from 1989 to 2009. Her family established this scholarship in her memory, noting that “she had a true zest
Danny Somers, Clarksville; Rebecca Griffith, Bowling Green; and Reed Niemeyer, Bowling Green; recently attended the 68th annual State 4-H Congress. The event was held May 29 through 31 on the campus of the University of Missouri at Columbia with nearly 300 other Missouri teens. Participants experienced life on a university campus and the opportunity to elect the next State 4-H Council. Workshops were held on topics ranging from creating websites
This spring PTO held a competition to see which classes could earn an ice cream party in May for most box tops collected. Mrs. Goheen’s second grade came in first with 1189 box tops, followed by another second grade class of Mr. White’s in second place with 1163 box tops, and third place went to Mrs. Morrison’s first grade class for 1115 box tops. Overall the students collected 12,657 box

On June 2 through 5 area youth participated in this year’s 4-H Teen Camp program. The theme for the camp was, “Ancient Greece”.
