Thanksgiving dinner cancelled

The popular Thanksgiving Dinner that is traditionally prepared and served by the churches of Louisiana will not be held this year. No group could be assembled to undertake the huge job of preparing, serving, and delivering the widely-enjoyed meal. It is with regret that this announcement must be made and hopes are high that the dinner will return next year.

  • PCMH Foundation dinner successful

    More than $50,000 was raised by the Pike County Memorial Hospital (PCMH) Foundation at its annual dinner and auction on Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Bowling Green. “It was a wonderful evening,” said PCMH Administrator Lorraine Harness. “It took a lot of hours of people donating their time and it turned out well,” she said.   • Mayor makes first Poppy Day donation

    Mayor Don Hunter made the first donation to this year’s Buddy Poppy fundraiser. The special day, which will be hosted by the Bowling Green VFW Post 5553, will take place next Friday, Nov. 7. The $5 donation was accepted by Poppy Day Chairman Bob Page.
