Mayor makes first Poppy Day donation

Mayor Don Hunter made the first donation to this year’s Buddy Poppy fundraiser. The special day, which will be hosted by the Bowling Green VFW Post 5553, will take place next Friday, Nov. 7. The $5 donation was accepted by Poppy Day Chairman Bob Page.

  • Secret Service to host fraud seminar

    The secret Service and the BG Police will be hosting a fraud, counterfeit and bad check scam seminar Monday, Nov. 10 at 6:30. It will be held at the BG High School Auditorium and there is no charge to attend. The seminar will be conducted by Asst.   • Veteran’s Day Program

    In observance of Veterans’ Day the Student Council of Bowling Green Middle School will be hosting a luncheon and providing a program for area veterans, their spouse/guest and spouses of deceased veterans. This activity will take place Tuesday, Nov. 11, on the Bowling Green R-1 campus.   • Vietnam memorial to be hosted by DAR

    A 50th anniversary Vietnam commemorative service will be held at the Veterans Wall at the Courthouse Square at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23. The event is sponsored by the Bowling Green DAR and the public is invited to attend. After the program the regular DAR meeting will commence at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church. The public is also invited to the October meeting.
