BG FFA competes at State, three members receive State degrees

Bowling Green’s FFA seemed to have a great experience at the state FFA convention, which was recently held in Columbia. Micah Bailey, Zach Browning, and Branden Doering received their State FFA Degree, which is only earned by the top three percent of the over 25,000 FFA members statewide.   • Convention and Visitors Bureau fishing derby

    The Bowling Green Convention and Visitors Bureau will host their fifth annual fishing derby on Sunday, May 3. The event will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Welcome Site (behind Dairy Queen and across from the Wal-Mart parking lot).   • Local students attend Sophomore Pilgrimage

    On April 14, students from around the state of Missouri gathered in Jefferson City for the 81st annual Sophomore Pilgrimage. This program, which is sponsored by the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Missouri, recognizes high school sophomores who exemplify high standards of honor, courage, citizenship, scholarship, leadership and service.   • PLTC students compete at SkillsUSA, FBLA state contests

    Pike-Lincoln Technical Center students competed at the recent SkillsUSA and FBLA State contests. SkillsUSA State was held at the State Technical College in Linn. Over 30 students represented Pike-Lincoln at this contest. This three-day event had students competing in different leadership, public speaking and hands-on events. At the end of the event, PLTC students walked away with a number of medals. PLTC sent just five students to the FBLA state

  • Blood drive to be held in honor of Times employee

    Leala McClurg says she probably would not be alive today if not for the quick action of medical professionals and the lifesaving blood donations from strangers she’ll likely never meet. After four surgeries and nearly a month in the hospital in the fall of 2013, McClurg is now asking the community to help patients in need by giving blood at a blood drive in her honor in April.     Daffron’s Relay for Life team is preparing for their 3rd Annual 5K Fun Run/Walk event.
