Second Baptist to host revival

Rev. Jerry Gamm from the Curryville Baptist Church will be at Second Baptist Church from Sunday to Wednesday, Oct. 5 through 8 leading revival services. Music will be under the direction of Joyce Burris, Second Baptist Music Minister. Services begin on Sunday, Oct. 5 at the 8 and 10:45 a.m. services (combined contemporary and blended), followed by lunch and fellowship time for everyone at noon. Evening service on Sunday, Oct.

  • Kempke, Pugh, Charlton participate in Boys State

    Three local students recently participated in The American Legion Boys State of Missouri, held June 14 through 21 on the campus of the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. Joshua Kempke, Danny Pugh, and Logan Charlton  were selected based on his leadership, citizenship, academics, and character during his junior year at Bowling Green High School High School.   • Fall concerts approaching

    The Bowling Green High School and middle school choirs will be performing their 2014 Fall Choral Concert on Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be held in the BGHS auditorium. Performing in order will be the Middle School Select Choir, Freshman/Mixed Chorus, BGHS PRIDE, Concert Choir. The finale will be a combined performance by the Select Choir and Concert Choir.

  • Visitors’ Bureau announces harvest concert

    The Bowling Green Convention and Visitors’ Bureau is hosting a free concert on Sunday, Oct. 5 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The concert will be at the Welcome Park located between Wal-Mart and the Hardees restaurant. Local artists providing the music are Taylor Blackwell, Debra Ingram, and Heather Buchanan.   • YMCA raises $20k, humor level at annual dinner

    Ms. Lily Langtry, a.k.a. Larry Chamberlain, got a huge laugh out of the crowd and YMCA Executive Director Marsha Garrison.

    The crowd was large, the food was delicious, and the entertainment was hysterical at the Twin Pike Family YMCA annual dinner and auction on Saturday, Sept. 20 at  the American Legion hall in Louisiana. A silent and live auction were held, but the highlight of the evening was the “Womanless Beauty Pageant.” The field of contestants was made up of several Y board members and volunteers.
