Bowling Green “Greenhands” attend district conference

On Tuesday, Jan. 6, 26 Bowling Green FFA Greenhands attended the Northeast District Greenhand Motivational Conference hosted at Bowling Green High School. Through interactive workshops and skits, Missouri State FFA Officers used the FFA version of “The Bachelor” as the theme to motivate Greenhands, who are first year FFA members. They helped the new agriculture students set goals for their education, careers and FFA experiences. MFA, Inc. sponsored this event.

  • Heir Club chili supper at BGHS

    Heir Study Club will have a chili and vegetable soup supper on Tuesday, Feb. 10 from 4:45 to 8:15   p.m. at the Bowling Green High School cafeteria. Meal includes: bowl of soup or chili, hot dog, drink and dessert. A la carte items will also be available.   • BGMS to host recycling, disposal event

    The Bowling Green Middle School will once again be hosting an electronic and hazardous waste drop off/recycling event. The event will be similar to what the school did last year, although it is planned to be set up at the shelter house next to the pool in order to use the larger parking lots for the drop off.   Event Details BG City Park April 11 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

  • First United Methodist Church to host free chili lunch Saturday, Jan. 24

    The First United Methodist Church, located at the corner of Church and Broadway Streets, will be serving a free chili lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24. The lunch will consist of chili, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, dessert, tea, and coffee.  Everyone in the community is invited to attend.   • Blood drive Feb. 5

    The First United Methodist Church in Bowling Green, located at 8 North Broadway at the corner of Church and Broadway, will be hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday, Feb. 5, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the church’s fellowship hall. Snacks and homemade sandwiches will be served to donors. This is the seventh drive the church has hosted as part of its “Acts of Kindness” mission.

  • Pike County Pro-life sponors contest

    The Pike County Prolife Family Network is sponsoring their annual contests for the students of Pike County to increase awareness of pro-life issues. Parents are asked to please encourage their children to participate. Cash prizes are awarded for each grade level.   • Bank of Louisiana pledges to Fairgrounds project

    The Pike County Fairgrounds will hopefully be receiving a facelift thanks to a generous pledge donation from Bank of Louisiana. At the last Fair Board meeting, a proposal was made regarding the construction of a new outdoor canopy and stage on the track, which would allow for the hosting of larger entertainment events, as well as better service the current acts it hosts annually.
