Bank of Louisiana pledges to Fairground project

The Pike County Fairgrounds will hopefully be receiving a facelift thanks to a generous pledge donation from Bank of Louisiana. At the last Fair Board meeting, a proposal was made regarding the construction of a new outdoor canopy and stage on the track, which would allow for the hosting of larger entertainment events, as well as better service the current acts it hosts annually.   • BG Invitational reaches milestone – 90th annual tournament next week

    The annual Bowling Green Invitational basketball tournament has reached another milestone. Next week’s event marks the 90th annual tournament to grace the courts of Bowling Green High School. As one of BGHS’s highlight annual events, the tournament draws a huge crowd from all over and is regarded for its display of athletic talent. “The Bowling Green Tournament has historically been a showcase for local basketball,” said BGHS Principal Brock Bailey.

Bowling Green “Greenhands” attend district conference

On Tuesday, Jan. 6, 26 Bowling Green FFA Greenhands attended the Northeast District Greenhand Motivational Conference hosted at Bowling Green High School. Through interactive workshops and skits, Missouri State FFA Officers used the FFA version of “The Bachelor” as the theme to motivate Greenhands, who are first year FFA members. They helped the new agriculture students set goals for their education, careers and FFA experiences. MFA, Inc. sponsored this event.

  • Heir Club chili supper at BGHS

    Heir Study Club will have a chili and vegetable soup supper on Tuesday, Feb. 10 from 4:45 to 8:15   p.m. at the Bowling Green High School cafeteria. Meal includes: bowl of soup or chili, hot dog, drink and dessert. A la carte items will also be available.   • BGMS to host recycling, disposal event

    The Bowling Green Middle School will once again be hosting an electronic and hazardous waste drop off/recycling event. The event will be similar to what the school did last year, although it is planned to be set up at the shelter house next to the pool in order to use the larger parking lots for the drop off.   Event Details BG City Park April 11 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
