BGHS sophomore Ais’Linn Dixon won “Best of Show” at the Colorfest Art Show.  The winning artwork was a of a lion represented in scratchboard.

  • Cancer Memorial Park donates to area groups

    Pike County Health Department, Home Health and Hospice Administrator Chris Deeken accepts a donation from Cancer Memorial Park Foundation President Karen Daffron.

    The season for giving has begun a little early this year as the Cancer Memorial Park Foundation (CMPF) recently presented two $1,000 checks to area organizations.     As the holidays approach, the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post #5553 are preparing to pack boxes for military overseas. The group is currently trying to obtain names and addresses for this project.     Jerri Harrelson, President of the Pike County Democratic Club, welcomed Terry and Lisa Burris to the meeting held on Sept. 18.  Burris is running for Presiding Commissioner and he discussed his qualifications and campaign strategies.  A big “thank you” was extended to club members that helped with the Democratic float in the Heritage Day parade.  Members were asked to volunteer to help with the Applefest and Colorfest parades.

    Congratulations to Frankford’s own Ethan Colbert, who was recently named a candidate for the MU Homecoming King title. Colbert, a Mizzou senior, made it to the top-10 list of candidates this week and is representing his fraternity, Delta Chi. The King and Queen will be announced at the MU Homecoming game, which will take place Saturday, Oct. 25. Ethan is the son of Roger and Julie Colbert.
