Pike County 4-H horse knowledge members compete at State

The state horse judging competition was held on March 14 at the Trowbridge Livestock Arena on the MU campus in Columbia. Pike County 4-H co-leaders Jody Horner and Jean Ledford, along with Lisa Barnes and Hal Roach, accompanied the five competitors.   • Relay to host Bark For Life

    The Pike County Relay for Life will be hosting a “Bark For Life” event for Relay supporters and their canine friends this spring. The event will be help Saturday, April 11 in the Bowling Green City Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine.   • Youth Fair cattle show highlights young showmen

    The Pike County Youth Fair Cattle and Bucket Calf Show took place on Thursday, July 24.  The evening began with the bucket calf class followed by the breeding stock and completed with the steer show. The bucket calf class is judged mainly on the exhibitor’s knowledge and care of the animal.     The goat show was held on Tuesday, July 22. Champion Dairy Doe was shown by Evan Scherder.  The Reserve Champion Dairy Doe was exhibited by Evan Scherder.     The 2014 Pike County Youth Fair Sale was held on Saturday, July 26 at the livestock barn starting at 6 p.m. Prior to the sale, the seven major contributors to the Pike County Youth Fair were recognized.     Jate McCollum, a member of the Peppy Circle 4-H club, received the Reserve Grand Champion title in his class at the Audrain County 4-H and Youth Fair over the weekend.
