Nicole Smith (Vazquez), United States Air Force, Dental Corps, daughter of Dan and Rose Ann Spegal of Bowling Green, is a 2014 graduate of the Maxillofacial Prosthodontics Fellowship, 59th Dental Training Squadron, Lackland AFB, Texas.   • PLTC construction begins

    Reconstruction of the Pike-Lincoln Technical Center’s (PLTC) main building in Eolia started recently, to the relief of many area residents and PLTC students. Tech center students have been using the old middle school building on the Clopton High School campus ever since the main center building burned to the ground on Dec. 2, 2011.  They will continue to do so until the new building is complete, hopefully by March 2015,

  • FFA awarded NRA grant – $16k in equipment for trap

    The Bowling Green chapter of the FFA was awarded a grant from the National Rifle Association (NRA) this spring. The grant was for approximately $16,000 in equipment for the Trap Shooting team. Matt Graves, FFA advisor and BGHS agriculture and science teacher, wrote the grant with the help of Stacie Smith, business teacher.   • School Board discusses PAT program, hears resignations

    The Bowling Green R-1 School District Board of Education gathered Monday night at 6:30 p.m. for their regular meeting. Among topics discussed was that of three resignations and possible upcoming projects. President Scott Smith called the meeting to order and asked for roll call.
