Pike County SWCD hosts summer activities

The Pike County Soil & Water Conservation District has sponsored several educational activities this summer for local students and landowners. All student activities took place at the Louisiana Elementary School, serving the Louisiana summer school program and the YMCA summer day camp.   • School Board approves tax rate, debates lengthy school days

    The total length of Pike County children’s school day was a topic of discussion as the Bowling Green Board of Education gathered Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. for a public tax rate hearing, followed by their regular monthly meeting.   • YMCA hosts day camp, after school programs

    YMCA Day Camp was held at Louisiana Elementary School from June 30 to Aug. 8 for children from all over Pike County. Many important things have been happening in Day Camp this summer. One addition is summer lunches being provided by Operation Food Search in St. Louis and catered by Crossroads General Store in Bowling Green.  The meals have been great and really enjoyed by the children.   • District meal prices see slight increase

    The Bowling Green R-I school district recently released the following meal prices for the upcoming 2014-2015 school year.   Breakfast Full Breakfast K-12 and adults: $1.50 A La Carte Extra Breakfast Entree: $1 Extra Juice: $.55 Extra Milk: $.35   Lunch Full Lunch K-5: $2.15 Full Lunch Middle and High School: $2.40 Tray must contain three items; one item must be fruit or vegetable to count as a full lunch.

  • BGHS track lights installed

    New lights at the Bowling Green High School football stadium and track were recently installed. The project, completed last week, is one of many improvements coming to BGHS this year. The weight room project is expected to be finished this month.

  • Back 2 School Fair Saturday

    The sixth annual Pike Community Care Partnership “Back 2 School Fair” will be held this Saturday at the fairgrounds. Pike County students are invited to the event for free gifts and necessary information before the start of the school year.
