In 1912, Bowling Green’s favorite son and US Speaker of the House ran and almost received the nomination of the Democratic Party for President of the United States. Coming a few ballots shy of winning the nomination, the loss of their beloved son endeared the Clark family even more to the Bowling Green community. After their death, the home was sold to various families who allowed the home to fall into disrepair. Now thanks to years of dedication and stewardship, Honeyshuck has been returned to its former glory and now houses a museum for people to come and learn more about Champ Clark and his rise to power. Honeyshuck is also home to one of the largest weddings in Missouri history, Genevieve Clark’s (Champ Clark’s only daughter).
