Amy Patterson – “My Thoughts”

Life is too short to be unhappy. Unfortunately, this doesn’t stop us from being chronic complainers and nay-sayers, you know, like Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. But let me tell you something… It doesn’t have to be like that.

All too often people get caught up in the negative of life. What these people don’t realize is that all of these negative aspects are completely optional.

We are all in control of our own lives. Don’t like your job? Fix it, or find a new one! Don’t like your house? Fix it, or find a new one! Don’t like someone in your life? Fix it, or get a new one! You have this control.

When you wake up in the morning, you are completely (yes, completely) in control of how that day plays out. …Not to take any credit away from a Higher Power, so consider that idea within reason. You don’t have to go to work; you don’t have to do laundry; you don’t have to do anything!

Most of us are on this earth for a handful of decades; some live longer, some don’t live quite as long. Regardless of your time here, you should live each and every day to its (and your) fullest potential.

Yes, it may be hard to find the motivation and drive to seek a new career or discover your passion, but I would almost guarantee that once you get there, everything it took to reach that point will have been worth it.

Even if you don’t need to make a life-altering move to be happy, little choices apply, too. Ladies, buy the shoes. Guys, get the new drill. If it makes you happy, do it.

What I’ve compiled for you here are some quotes that I hope will inspire you to live a happy, full, and rewarding life. Good luck!

“I attribute my success to this: I never gave or took any excuse.” –Florence Nightingale

“The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity.” –Amelia Earhart

“The past is a ghost, the future a dream. All we ever have is now.” –Bill Cosby

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do, so throw off the bowlines, sail away from safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sails.  Explore, Dream, Discover.” –Mark Twain

“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” –Chinese Proverb

“Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.” –Henry Ford

“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” –Mark Twain

“The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.” –Ralph Waldo Emerson

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life.  When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.  I wrote down ‘happy’.  They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.” –John Lennon

“If you’re offered a seat on a rocket ship, don’t ask what seat! Just get on.” –Sheryl Sandberg

Editor’s note: Sorry about my several-week-long hiatus, everybody. I’ll blame it, in part, to a lack of motivation (inspiration), but mostly due to my procrastinating nature. Oops! But never fear, these amazing “thoughts” are back–and that makes you happy, right? I knew it would.
