Three Bowling Green R-I School District buses failed a Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) spot check inspection earlier in the school year, an event which superintendent Darin Powell says is not unusual.
Although these three buses, numbers 12, 2, and 9, were deemed “out of service” by the MSHP, their issues were resolved and the vehicles were back on the roads for their afternoon routes the same day.
A representative from the Highway Patrol explained regular inspections occur every year, during a time which is scheduled to fit the district.
Spot checks occur on the whim of the MSHP local troops, an event which they say is done at random.
The spot check, which was conducted on Oct. 24 of this year, took the buses off the roads for a variety of issues.
