Bowling Green R-I School District administrators made an announcement last week that has excited many local residents, as well as Bobcat basketball fans.
A Bowling Green native, Cary Bibb, was hired earlier this month to the position of head Bobcats basketball coach. Bibb will replace Greg Williams, who recently announced his resignation.
Bibb said he is most excited about “the quality of student and athlete in the Bowling Green School System as well as the leadership in the Bowling Green Schools.”
The coach is currently employed with Prairie Home schools, where he has held a position as a PE coach for the last year.
Bibb said his family is thrilled to move back home and he looks forward to beginning his career with Bowling Green High School.
“I’m more than excited about begin a part of a great school district like Bowling Green,” he said. “We know first hand what a wonderful education Bowling Green will provide for our daughters and are very excited about helping other student/athletes become productive citizens.”
While he knows stepping into Williams’ vacated position will pose some challenges, Bibb says he is eager to get started with the team.
“I don’t not foresee any more growing pains than any other coach would have starting a new year and a new program,” he said. “We will try and get better everyday as players and as people. We will be fundamentally sound and take care of the basketball.”
