Haunted by a 9-year-old news report from Jonesboro, Arkansas, Bowling Green High School Assistant Baseball and Softball Coach Blayne Murphy says he has tendered his resignation to the Bowling Green R-I School District.
Bowling Green R-I Superintendent of Schools J.W. Brandt confirmed the resignation on Tuesday, pending board approval.
Murphy, who said he was placed on paid administrative leave by the local school district on April 12, spoke to the Times in an exclusive interview on Tuesday.
According to Murphy, his leave of absence from the school district was due to the surfacing of a KAIT TV news report from April 2009. KAIT TV is the local ABC news affiliate for northeastern Arkansas. Murphy claims the article was anonymously given to the local school district.
