BGHS FBLA attends national conference

Future Business Leaders of America, the largest and oldest student business organization, held their National Leadership Conference (NLC) at the Hilton Anaheim, June 27 through 30.  Conference participant’s from around the country and the world were in attendance for the NLC and the FBLA Institute for Leaders.

Three Bowling Green High School FBLA members participated in the conference.  Gaby Farabee competed in the Healthcare Administration event against the top students from across the nation.  Shelby Grummel and Breanna Bixby attended as voting delegates for the Bowling Green High School chapter.

“I am very proud of these young ladies.  They represented our chapter well and they worked very hard to raise the money to attend this prestigious leadership conference,” said Stacie Smith, FBLA Advisor.

The conference included a comprehensive competitive events program sponsored by FBLA.  The young ladies also helped raise awareness and funding for the March of Dimes by participating in the March for Babies walk event as well as attending a variety of workshops.

Shelby Grummel, chapter President stated, “I had a great time at this conference and I am excited that I got the opportunity to represent Bowling Green and Missouri at the national level.  I would like to thank People’s Bank and Trust and Community State bank for their financial support for our trip.”

Future Business Leaders of America is a non-profit education association with a quarter million members and advisers in 12,000 chartered middle school, high school and college chapters worldwide.  Its mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.  The association is headquartered in Reston, Virginia, just outside of Washington, DC.
