For most of the day Thursday, members of the Bowling Green High School FBLA, as well as several school athletes, participated in a Leadership Training program created by club sponsor Stacie Smith. It was a day of teamwork and self indentification.
“I created this training because as a teacher and a coach, I’ve seen students that possess some leadership qualities,” said Smith. “But as a school, we never work with them collectively to improve those qualities or help them become better leaders.”
Smith added that the goals of the program were to: be introduced to leadership theory; identify students’ strengths and weaknesses as a leader; develop strategies to improve as a leader; increase their skills in positive group interactions; identify personality styles; and role play ways to deal with difficult situations.
The program was funded through a grant from Operation Round Up Cuivre River Electric.
The sponsor added that captains and co- captains of all BGHS sports teams, as well as all club officers were invited to attend.
