Posted on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 2:37 pm

Mrs. Scherder and the Eco. Detectives middle school group will be hosting an Earth Day activity on April 12 at the Bowling Green City Park, with a back-up rain location of the BGHS auditorium.

As part of this event, there will be the opportunity for individuals and businesses to drop off any electronics in order for them to be recycled and to keep their hazardous materials out of landfills.

Acceptable Items (no charge, working or not): basically anything that has a cord or battery; Computers, Printers, Keyboards, Laptops, Hard Drives, Cell Phones, Pagers, Radios, Scanners, Speakers, VCR, DVD, Fax Machines, Answering Machines, Televisions, Stereos, Furnaces, Water Heaters, Air Conditioners, Microwaves, Power Tools, Kitchen Appliances, lawn and garden equipment, etc.

Exceptions: No smoke detectors, glass lamps, light bulbs, or fluorescent tubes.

There will be no charge for items dropped off, with the exeption of CR/DLP (Box) TV’s, which will incur a $15 charge per unit. Gas and oil must be removed from lawn equipment.

The group will also be taking t-shirt orders so everyone can be dressed in support of Earth the day of the event.

Mrs. Scherder’s class is also looking for individuals that have products or services that benefit the Earth to be able to share at the event about these products and services.  Individuals would be responsible for having their own tables and would have to have something on their table to show how their product or service benefits the Earth.  The group is also looking for those interested in providing live music or being a food or drink vendor.

Please contact Mrs. Scherder for order forms if you would like to order shirts, or if you would like to have a booth or be a vendor.

The Bowling Green CTA is also working on putting together a 5K run and Fun Run that morning from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
