When Bowling Green High School junior Taylor Blackwell walked off of the Miss Missouri Outstanding Teen Pageant stage in Mexico last year she said it was likely that she would not return to the state pageant, favoring retiring from the pageant circuit to focus on her studies and post-secondary education plans.
“I think it all really depends if I feel that I can fully commit to it,” Blackwell is quoted as saying in a June 2017 Bowling Green Times article. “I am the type of person that if I can’t commit to something, then I don’t want to do it. I think it all depends on where I am at in my life.”
Fast-forward from mid-June to mid-October and Blackwell said her feelings had not changed.
“I had told myself that I was not going to compete again,” Blackwell said. Instead, the BGHS junior was focusing on touring college campuses and learning more about her intended area of study, astronomy.
