Despite some wet spring weather, the Bobcats were able to rally on the diamond and at bat last Tuesday, April 1 at Silex. The ‘Cats ultimately beat the Owls with a 8-4 victory.
Junior Alex Roy went 3-3 at the plate, sparking the Bobcats to a win. He homered in the third inning and singled in the fifth and sixth innings.
Corey Brown will also receive a great deal of credit for Tuesday’s win, as he allowed only three runs over 5 1/3 innings. The senior struck out eight, walked two, and gave up five hits.
The Bobcats never surrendered their lead after the third inning, scoring two runs on a solo home run by Roy and an RBI single by Brown.
Bowling Green got one-run rallies in the fifth inning and the seventh. In the fifth, Bowling Green Bobcats Varsity scored on an RBI single by Austin Quarles, scoring Darren Feldewerth.
The Bobcats bumped their lead with four additional runs in the sixth. Cory Buchanan’s double got things going, scoring David Goddard and Andrew Martinson. That was followed up by Goddard’s single, plating Buchanan.
