Bowling Green resident Mary Brewster reached her 100th Birthday on December 28, 2018.
An “Open House” was held at Second Baptist Church on December 30 to allow family members and many friends celebrate this “milestone” with Mary.
Mary actually started celebrating this birthday back in August, 2018, at the Brewster Family Reunion–held at Donnie and Dorothy Brewster’s home south of Bowling Green. With many extended family members attending the Reunion that would not be able to attend the Open House, the family celebrated Mary’s 99½ year old birthday with a birthday cake and singing “Happy Birthday” to her.
The family decided to celebrate Mary’s 99¾ year old birthday at another Brewster family gathering in October. This celebration was also held at Donnie and Dorothy’s home.
On Mary’s actual birthdate of December 28, a small group of family members helped celebrate her birthday with a lunch, birthday cake and presents. The family got a small laugh, as Mary tried to blow out candles that kept reigniting–they were mistakenly purchased as candles that would just sparkle when lit.
The final celebration was the “Open House” celebration on December 30. Well over 100 people attended this celebration, as Mary was seated at the entrance of the church’s Fellowship Hall so she could greet each and every guest. Cake and punch were enjoyed by everyone.
