The board of the Cancer Memorial Park board is excited to announce the Grand Opening of the park on Memorial Day, May 26, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
There will be a break afterwards until 11 a.m. when the first annual memorial service will begin.
A ceremony will be held where the names of all those remembered in the park will be read aloud, a few words of remembrance will be spoken and hymns sung.
White roses will be available for purchase before and after the memorial service. They are a symbol of remembrance and can be placed in vases near the Jesus statue. Please bring correct change if you plan to purchase a rose.
For the survivors, the living, name plates will be available to place in the flower gardens on either side of the Jesus statue.
The name plates will remain in the park until fall when the flowers are no longer in bloom. Next year they will be sold again.
Name plates will be available all spring and summer. You can order them online at the cancer park’s new website www.cancermemorialpark.com or by calling 324-3740 extension 9602 or ask for Karen Daffron.
Pavers and benches may also be purchased online. A prayer chain option is also available. You can enter a name to be added to a list to be prayed for. Please check out the new website and honor your loved ones today!
There has been a change in the board members of the Cancer Memorial Park. After 10 years on the Board, Rodney Dolbeare left in 2013. He was instrumental in developing the original plans and was always available to answer any questions about grants or construction. He will be greatly missed and the board wishes to extend their appreciation for his many years of service and all he has contributed.
George Huber was elected in Dolbeare’s place in January 2014. He has already made significant contributions to the park effort in the construction phase.
