Charles Lee

Charles “Chuck” Lee, 79, of Colorado Springs, Colo., passed away April 30 at the Cheyenne Mountain Care Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Services were held at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, Fountain, Colo., on May 3 where Chuck was laid to rest with full Military Honors. Chuck was interred in Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colo.

Charles was born Feb. 13, 1934 in Rockport, Ill. to Earl and Mabel (Payne) Lee. He attended West Pike High School in Kinderhook, Ill. and joined the United States Air Force in 1951.

Chuck served our country honorably, including two tours in Vietnam, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant in 1972. After the Air Force, Chuck continued in government service as the School District Transportation Supervisor in Durango, Colo., and later, in Aurora, Colo.

He completed his second career as Director of Transportation for Douglas County Schools. Other than family, Chuck’s great loves were baseball and fishing, which he enjoyed and actively participated in for most of his life.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Clara; son, Russell; and three daughters, Terry, Bianca and Jennifer. He is also survived by his brothers, James and wife Jo Ann Lee of Springfield; Donald Lee, Moore Pike Nursing Home, Bowling Green; plus numerous nephews and nieces.

Preceding Chuck in death were his parents, Earl and Mabel Lee; and brothers Wilmer, Winfred, Wayne, Gene, and Russell.
