City committee discusses grant sponsorship, well repair

Posted on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 12:47 pm

Bowling Green’s General Committee met for their regular meeting Monday evening, with Chair Kenda Flynn calling the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. Among the few issues brought, the committee discussed a grant sponsorship as well as repairing a city lake well.

All committee members were present.

The first report presented was by Bo Stinnett on behalf of Alliance water. The manager explained that both city lakes are overflowing and are in perfect condition for the upcoming warm-weather seasons. Stinnett said that the 15th Street area tornado siren has been ordered. Flynn mentioned that she has noticed a few clogged ditches in her ward that city residents were attempting to clear. Stinnett explained that residents or chairpersons can contact Alliance for clearing of the city drains and ditches.

Bowling Green’s two city lakes, Jack Floyd Memorial Lake and the West Lake, are both brimming full after the recent snow storms and rains. Alliance representative Bo Stinnett hopes to stay with the precipitation trend all season, as to steer clear from any drought problems. The city is also looking into repairing one of the lakes’ eight wells as another safety measure in case of another drought.
