Recently, Bowling Green Alderman Ed Lawson and City Administrator Dan Lang met with the leadership of the local Amish community. The purpose of these meetings was to strengthen the relationship of these two entities.
Several positive results came out of those discussions. The Amish community is working on providing updated information on the members who have goods and services to provide. This updated mapping information will be placed on the City’s website at www.bowlinggreen-mo.gov. The map will also be given to the Chamber and the Convention and Visitors Bureau to place on their websites.
Another concern expressed by the Amish leadership was the condition of the shoulder along Business 61. In response to this concern, the Missouri Department of Transportation recently improved the shoulder with equipment designed for that purpose.
The City expects to continue to cooperate with the Amish and work on mutually beneficial projects and opportunities.
