The Board of Aldermen for the City of Bowling Green met Monday night for their regular monthly meeting.
All members of the board were present for the meeting that was primarily devoted approving the annual rate of taxation for the upcoming fiscal year, setting the water and sewer rates, and approving next year’s operating budget for the City of Bowling Green.
With a 6-0 vote, the Board of Aldermen set the new rates at .6281 for every $100 of valuation for all taxable property within the City of Bowling Green. More information about the new tax rate can be found in Ordinance No. 1850.
Also approved by a unanimous vote was Ordinance No. 1851, which set the following water rates for the city’s public works customers.
According to the ordinance, the new minimum user fee, for users within the city limits, has been set at $14.01 per month. Also established was the rate of $11.80 per 1,000 galloons of water.
The city also set the water rates for customers outside of the city limits.
The minimum monthly fee for these customers will be $20.07 per month. They will also be charged for their water at a rate of $17.71 per 1,000 gallons of water.
The Board of Aldermen also approved the creation of a neighborhood park for the vacant lot near the community center.
According to city officials, construction of the new park is scheduled to begin late next year.
As was previously reported by the Times, the new park will be similar to the 15th Street Park which includes some playground equipment, a gazebo, a picnic table and other items such as park benches.
Without further business, the city’s board of aldermen adjourned from the meeting.
