A Clarksville stalwart will be vacating the community.
The La Crosse Lumber store in Clarksville will be closing its doors on Friday, May 5.
“With the closing of Holcim Cement, and other economical concerns, it has become difficult to cover the cost of keeping the store viable,” La Crosse Lumber President Kevin Keely said.
“There is a need for equipment to be replaced, as well as the cost of keeping the store repaired after floods that the corporation has to consider. The board and management took a look at three to four years down the road and decided we couldn’t justify spending the money needed to keep the Clarksville location open.”
The store has been open since 1890.
“They have indicated it’s all financial,” Clarksville Mayor Jo Anne Smiley said.
