Presiding Commis-sioner Dan Miller called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m., with Eastern District Commissioner Curt Mitchell moved to accept the Agenda as presented; Western District Commissioner Roy Sisson Jr. seconded the motion. Motion carried 3 – 0.
On the agenda for this meeting on Oct. 11, the Commission met with FEMA Represent-ative Bob Bailey who was here to do a final inspection on the blizzard disaster. His inspection went well and was completed without any problems.
Now on this day, the Commission met with Donna Prior, County Assessor, who asked the Commission to support her adding a part time person until the end of the year. As Donna has the money in her budget, the Commission was very supportive.
The Commission met with Janice Robinson and Dan Page of NECAC to visit about the Emergency Solutions Grant Pro-gram, a federal grant which just came down from Washington D.C. After discussion, the Commission declined to serve as fiscal agent for this grant after the negative experience we had with the HPRP grant the past three years. Commission expressed their support of NECAC for their many good works.
Now on this day, Sean O’Brien reported that graders are running and working windrows into the roads. They are continuing to spot rock where needed. Mowers are very close to finishing up. They are getting ready to pour abutments on the bridge on CR. 388. He mentioned that Ameren UE wanted to put asphalt on Industrial Park Dr. They will be in to visit with the Commission on this project.
Also on this day, County Treasurer, Patti Crane presented the September Sales Tax Report indicating a decrease over September 2011 by about $1,500.00 in each of the four sales tax areas.
The Commission met with other elected officials in Pike County for a celebratory ribbon cutting for the Courthouse Annex recognizing the completion of the remodeling of the building front. Since its completion, many compliments have come to the Elected Officials about the nice appearance of this project. The Elected Officials provided a picnic lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, desserts and ice cream for all county employees.
Now on this day, the Commission attended a semi-final bridge inspection near Fisher Hog Farm at 1:30 p.m. on CR. 443 and also traveled CR. 474.
