On Aug. 16, eight members of the Farmer Farmerette Club met at the home of Elsie
Lybarger for a day of working on crafts and also to celebrate the birthday of Clara
Those attending, aside from Lybarger and Shaver, were Ginger Mangan, Wanda
Hansen, Claudine Lybarger, Jeannie Smith, Pauline Oberman, and Pauline Keithley.
A light lunch was served by the hostess.
The September meeting of the club was held at the home of Clara Shaver with Jeannie
Smith as hostess on Thursday evening, Sept. 5, at 6 p.m.
President Kay Reading called the meeting to order with Smith leading the pledge to the
Roll call for the month ask the question “What would you be if you weren’t a homemaker?” It was answered by Keithley, Shaver, Oberman, Hansen, Elsie Lybarger, Smith, Claudine Lybarger, and Reading.
For the devotional, Smith read an article from Chicken Soup for the Christian Soul
entitled “Luke’s Truck,” by Roberta L. Messner.
Larry Shaw and his mother Norma Shaw were guests. Larry gave a most interesting talk
on his days of serving our country as well as other career posts he has held.
Hansen gave the secretary’s report and Shaver the treasurer’s report.
Get Well cards were signed to be sent to Betty Davis who is recovering from a stroke. Our prayers are with her for a speedy recovery.
Hansen and Reading received gifts from their secret pals for their birthdays.
Song leader Oberman led the group in reciting The Lord’s Prayer and singing God Bless
The October meeting will be held in the Leisure Manor social room in Laddonia with
Claudine Lybarger as hostess.
On Sunday, Sept. 8 members met at the Saint’s Avenue Restaurant for lunch and later went on to Elsberry to see the movie “The Butler.” Those who attended were Pauline Oberman, Clara Shaver, Claudine Lybarger, Elsie Lybarger, Jeannie Smith, Pauline Keithley, Kay Reading, Keri Bradford, and Wanda Hansen. One guest Linsey Nitcher joined us.
