Dr. Matt Frederickson recently completed his first month as Superintendent for the Bowling Green R-I School District. The veteran school district administrator says he is still settling into his new role and learning about the community he now calls home.
On Friday, July 14, there were multiple news clippings highlighting the career of former Bowling Green High School Principal George H. Nienhueser on the desk of new Bowling Green R-I Superintendent Doctor Matt Frederickson.
Frederickson said he had pulled the news clippings because he wanted to learn more about the iconic high school administrator, who served the school district as principal of the secondary school from 1959 until his retirement in 1985. Nienhueser passed away in March.
“What he provided to this community over his years of dedicated service is just massive,” Frederickson said. “It is really awe-inspiring because you just don’t see that anymore. You don’t see people dedicate that much time and energy into one place.”
Frederickson said in his interview that he hoped that his tenure at the local school district would be remembered as fondly as Nienhueser’s career has been.
