An eastbound grain trailer spilled a load of wheat across both lanes of Hwy. 54 near Hwy. UU, just outside of Louisiana, around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. No one was injured but traffic was blocked in both directions.
Right after Curryville truck driver Fred Gentry crossed the Noix Creek bridge, the trailer “just broke in two,” he said.
Fortunately, no other cars were in the vicinity at the time of the accident.
“It could have been worse,” mentioned Gentry.
MoDOT crews dedicated more than an hour to moving grain off the roadway so that traffic could resume.
