House goes around the square

Bowling Green’s Glen Henderson had a building moved through the city this past Saturday afternoon. He recently purchased the parsonage from the Methodist Church in town and hired a contractor with a large tractor to assist in moving the building from where it was originally, between Church and Main streets, to where it will rest now on Main Cross.

Henderson, with assistance from the city, police department, and city BICE Mel Orf, temporarily shut off the square so that they could maneuver the parsonage around the streets backwards. Movers had to remove the roof and trusses due to its height and proximity to the power lines. Construction was being completed Monday on the reinstallation of these parts of the building. It was successfully placed at its new site.

Individuals interested in moving such a building will need to apply for the permit with the city and place a bond. With a successful move (no damage to city property), the bond will be refunded.
