“Kids In Motion” (a summer pre-employment/life success training program for at-risk youth) will begin accepting applications soon for their 2014 Pike County KIM Summer Programs.
Bowling Green and Louisiana youth currently in the sixth, seventh, or eighth grade are welcomed and encouraged to apply.
In Bowling Green, applications will be available beginning on Tuesday, March 18 and will be accepted until Tuesday, April 1.
Application forms may be picked up from Miss Amy Becker at the Bowling Green Middle School.
In Louisiana, applications will be available starting on Monday, March 24 and will be accepted until Friday April 4.
Application forms may be picked up from Mrs. Tammy Shireman at the Louisiana Middle School.
No late applications will be accepted, so please note the specific application deadlines in each of the two communities.
Applications must be signed by both parent/guardian and youth and need to be returned by the application deadlines (April 1 in Bowling Green and April 4 in Louisiana.)
The goal of the KIM program is to teach teens and pre-teens to value work, value their community and value their future.
Participants perform various community service projects and are given the opportunity to take part in many educational and motivational events throughout the summer.
In essence, the program prepares young people for their first real job and teaches many valuable life lessons regarding work ethic and responsibility.
“Kids In Motion” is under the umbrella of Douglass Community Services, and is based out of Hannibal, Missouri.
For more information about the program, please contact Amy Vaughn, KIM Program Director at (573) 221-3892 Ext. 246.
