The Lady Bobcats volleyball team took on Pleasant Hill Community High School, an Illinois team Thursday night and lost.
Coming off of a rough past couple of weeks featuring a loss to Mexico and poor player turn-out for the recent Troy Tournament, the varsity girls fell in three sets in the home-court game: 25/19, 28/26, and 25/19.
Head coach Erin VanDyke said it was a really great game, the girls just made mistakes with the basics in the second and third games, primarily in serving.
“We had 12 serving errors, 11 from the second and third games alone. That makes a huge difference when the game is decided by two and six points.”
Darby Edmond had seven aces from 15 attempts. Kaitlyn Niemeyer had eight kills from 18 attempts with only one error. Ella Klott had nine kills with 31 attempts and two blocks. Kaycee Sutton racked up 12 assists with 19 attempts and one ace.
VanDyke said the girls are certainly improving.
“This is the first time we have seen our team kills in the 20’s (23 total.) We just need to eliminate the little mistakes.”
