Harlan Jennings, E-4 Petty Officer 3rd Class ETN—Electronics Technician Nuclear, graduated with honors from Nuclear Engineer Power School.
Both A School and Power School are training programs Jennings has completed that have included a wide variety of topics including nuclear physics, nuclear reactor technology, chemistry, and mathematics.
The majority of the coursework is considered classified material, which means Jennings has been required to stay within the Charleston Naval Nuclear Power Training Command for classroom-based lecture and study time.
Jennings will begin Prototype School, which is application of knowledge with school activities held on a decommissioned submarine on the Naval base.
Nuclear training is acknowledged to have one of the most rigorous academic programs in the United States military.
Upon completion of Prototype School, Jennings will serve by going to the depths of the ocean in a submarine, to the open sea on board a ship, or to the classroom to teach and mentor incoming trainees.
Jennings graduated from Bowling Green High School and completed Basic Training at the Great Lakes Naval Base.
He is the grandson of Pauline Gibbs and the son of Gail and Dennis Adkirson and Ronnie Jennings.
Jennings is married to Malinka (Berlin) Jennings.
They live in Goose Creek, S.C., where he continues his Naval career and Malinka continues college coursework at Charleston Southern University.
